It can be said that this is a mutual process, as the application field of aerogel expands and the market sinks, more specifications will be introduced to promote the benign development of the aerogel market.
3. Technical aspects
Reviewing the industrialization process of aerogel, we can find that technological change is also an important factor affecting the development of aerogel. Drying technology is an important step in the process of aerogel preparation. Currently, supercritical drying process and atmospheric pressure drying process are the mainstream, and supercritical drying technology takes the lead in batch preparation of aerogel technology, which has been relatively mature at present, providing basic technical support for the yield and quality of aerogel.
4. Demand side
From the perspective of the global market, compared with the overall market of thermal insulation materials, although the aerogels market size is not very large at present, it is growing particularly rapidly. The current downstream demand structure for aerogel is 56% for oil and gas projects, 18% for industrial insulation, 9% for building construction, and 8% for transportation. In 2026, 14% will be used for construction, while demand in the transportation sector will increase to 13%. It can be seen that when the coverage and awareness of aerogel materials and composite products continue to improve, the growth of demand in other areas such as construction materials, aerospace and military industry and daily life, and the acceleration of carbon neutrality bring explosive growth, the growth space of aerogel will be more and more large.
