The production process of glass fiber aerogel felt mainly includes the following steps:
1. Pre-treatment of glass fibers: This is the pre-processing step where glass fibers are cleaned and dried to ensure the quality and purity of the fibers.
2. Preparation of aerogel sol: The steps for preparing aerogel sol are similar to those for ordinary aerogel sheets. Mix the silicon source compound (such as silicon dioxide) with the solvent and heat it to form a uniform sol.
3. Coating of fibers: The glass fiber cloth or yarn is immersed and coated in the sol, ensuring that the fibers come into full contact with the aerogel sol.
4. Gel formation: After the fiber coating process, the material undergoes gelation treatment. The gelation method can be achieved through heating, pressure application, or the use of chemical crosslinking agents to enable the formation of a solid gel structure from the aerogel.
5. Removing solvents: Similar to the production process of ordinary aerogel mats, the gel needs to undergo solvent removal treatment to leave only the solid aerogel structure in the fibers.
6. Heat treatment: The glass fiber aerogel sheet after solvent removal undergoes heat treatment to enhance its stability and mechanical properties. The temperature and duration of the heat treatment can be adjusted according to specific requirements.
7. Cutting/Shape Formation: After undergoing heat treatment, the glass fiber aerogel sheet can be cut and shaped to achieve the desired shape and size.
8. Surface treatment (optional): Depending on the requirements, the surface of the glass fiber aerogel mat can be further treated, such as coating, covering or functionalization, to meet specific application needs.
