Ordinary aerogels are made with glass fibers as the framework. The fibers are brittle and have low tensile strength. During cutting and wrapping of pipelines, a large amount of silica powder falls off, polluting the equipment and damaging the respiratory tracts of construction workers. Pre-oxidized fibers belong to carbon fiber precursor organic refractory fibers. They have extremely high toughness, with a longitudinal tensile strength of up to 0.4 MPa. They do not break even when repeatedly bent and wound around irregular pipes, and there is almost no dust throughout the process. The cleanliness is suitable for high-cleanliness scenarios such as lithium batteries and precision equipment. 
Second, it has stronger high-temperature stability and does not deteriorate over a long period of use.
For ordinary glass fiber aerogel, when exposed to a temperature above 500℃ for a long time, the glass fibers will soften and contract, the insulation layer will collapse, and the thermal conductivity will significantly increase. The pre-oxygenated carbonized structure has a higher temperature limit for withstanding heat. When used continuously at 600℃ for a long time, there is no shrinkage or powdering, and the insulation performance remains stable for more than 5 years in kiln furnaces, steam pipelines, and lithium battery thermal runaway protection conditions, reducing the cost of later maintenance and replacement. 
Thirdly, it has a higher degree of flexibility and requires less time and materials for construction.
Ordinary aerogels are stiff and prone to edge separation when wrapping curved tanks or elbows. They need to be layered multiple times. The pre-oxidized silk base is soft and can be folded and sewn. It closely adheres to irregular components, achieving the same insulation effect with a thinner thickness. The overall insulation layer volume is reduced by 30%, resulting in concurrent reductions in transportation, labor, and auxiliary material costs. 
Fourth, the fire prevention and smoke toxicity levels have been upgraded, ensuring maximum safety.
Both products have reached the A-level non-combustible standard. However, the ordinary glass fiber will release trace irritating smoke when heated to high temperatures. The pre-oxygenated silk has an extremely high oxygen index and does not produce smoke or toxic substances when heated at high temperatures, meeting the strict fire safety standards for energy storage stations, ships, and rail transit. In the event of a thermal runaway, it can slow down the temperature rise and increase the safety buffer time. 
Fifth, resistant to acid and alkali and anti-aging, with a longer service life.
Glass fibers are prone to corrosion and brittleness when exposed to water vapor and mild acid or alkali. In southern humid factory areas, they start to deteriorate within half a year. Pre-oxidized fibers have strong chemical inertness. The hydrophobic base combined with a stable fiber framework makes them less prone to aging in humid and slightly corrosive environments. Outdoor and underground pipeline insulation does not require frequent application of waterproof protective layers. 
After comprehensive comparison, ordinary aerogel sheets are only suitable for short-term, low-temperature, and low-cleanliness requirements projects; however, for lithium battery storage, high-temperature industrial kilns, precision equipment, and long-term outdoor insulation projects, pre-oxygenated aerogel has a higher overall cost performance. Many projects only consider the material price and ignore the later maintenance, equipment wear and tear, and labor costs. In the long run, using pre-oxygenated aerogel can actually save more money.
